Religion - The Old Gods, the pantheon of Indian and Egyptian gods, the Aztecs, the Norse gods and the New god of Abraham worshipped by the various flavours of Jews, Christians and Muslims.
Why do people feel the need to worship gods? Why not take responsibility for your own actions, you have free will, use it, you have a moral compass of your own, use it and apply it to whatever holy book you blindly follow.
As an Atheist I have no time for organised religion. I feel people who need defer their moral responsibilities to fairy tale characters and books written by old men anthropomorphising the elements to try to make sense of the world around them are lacking something upstairs.
What does amuse me though is the thought that humanity is some kind of heirloom, a toy passed down from one generation of deities to the next, they eventually grow out of us.
This would explain the god of Abraham and his behaviour, that of a spoilt child with an ant farm, a jealous and petty child who wants everything his own way and throws a tantrum if things don't go his way.
So what happens when god eventually grows up and moves on, who gets to play with us next?
