Please help keep your local services from fading away
Volunteers make a vital difference in the local community but if funding and support from local businesses dries up then such a vital service will be lost, maybe forever, and those in need will be the ones to suffer in the end.
If you have such a service in your area and you know someone who benefits from those unpaid volunteering heroes then I am sure you will understand what I mean?
You can of course just simply throw money at those social care problems but without those who give up their time and effort then none of those vital services in the streets near you will continue to exist if funding is not made available to those volunteers who can, and often do, make a true difference on a day to day basis.
Funding is a vital part of keeping voluntary community support available
Sadly although volunteers do give up their time and effort for free, money is still needed for various things.
Running costs such as the cost of phone calls, travel expenses and other ongoing bills that cannot be avoided while coordinating and providing such services is a never ending problem for those in charge but your help can vastly reduce that problem and greatly make a difference to what they do.
Keeping active with community activities
Most community services offer a range of subjects that can range from informal computer classes, cookery classes and online services that can help to gain qualifications. These classes and courses are also run by volunteers.
Be it for fun, a hobby to simply learning a new skill these free services are all aimed at benefiting local people who would not otherwise get the chance at trying their hand at something new and interesting.
Donations can be in many forms
When it comes to a bit of local funding it does not always have to be in money form.
A donation of a single tin of paint, so a volunteer can do a simple bit of decorating for someone, to providing transport so that people can attend a local activity centre or providing some food items, so a hot meal for a group of local people can be served up one day a week for those who struggle to feed themselves, all adds up and it also enhances the work done by the volunteers who can in turn pass on such help.
Help to keep local services local
There are many such vital services all over the place but while some areas are lucky enough to have a few such services nearby, within their local community, some areas are not so lucky and may just have the one locally available resource only.
Therefore when it comes to those areas with only one such service, if local business support ends or literally dries up then those services and those who give up their time to others for free, may be lost forever in some very much needed areas.
Please help if you can
Please do help support your local volunteer centre in anyway that you can so that those unsung volunteers can continue to give their vital support to those that need it – thank you.
